Are you the Hobbyist of the Year?

MIKE SWANAGAN, 2009 HOBBYIST OF THE YEAR

Mike Swanagan, of South Hill, VA is the winner of HobbyTown USA®’s second annual Hobbyist of the Year contest. The contest gave participants the chance to submit photos of themselves and their hobby, as well as a short description as to why they deserve to receive the Hobbyist of the Year award.

Mike started his club team, Insane RC Racing, this year because of his desire to share his passion for RCs. This year his club team has expanded to 208 members on HobZob.com and 85 members on his own website, which he designed and manages himself to get people motivated about RCs. He sees the group only getting bigger this next year and hopes to reach over 500 members.

“I created my club team to share my love with others that have never experienced RC racing. I’ve spent a great deal of time and money on the club team, but to see a person that never smiles due to hard times light up like a kid, it makes it all worthwhile,” said Swanagan.

As the Hobbyist of the Year, Mike will receive $250 dollars in HobbyTown USA® gift certificates. In addition, he will receive a Hobbyist of the Year trophy commemorating his momentous win.

The Hobbyist of the Year contest was created to continue HobbyTown USA®’s quest to provide its customers with creative outlets to connect and share their hobbies with others.
